Default I'm looking for a better ride.

I have a 3" teraflex lift with the teraflex shocks and would like to see it ride a little nicer. I've been told if I switch to gas shocks it will improve the ride quality is that true? any suggestions what kind of gas shocks?

You may also want to play with your tire pressure. People tend to run higher than necessary with oversize tires and that can cause rougher feeling ride in the pants.

tire pressure will probably be the key to smoothing out your ride.

But keep in mind the wrong tire pressure can greatly reduce the life of your tires, and give you other problems also.
The proper tire pressure can be checked by chalking the tires tread, then driving forward and backward a bit. Once done the tire should leave a mark on the asphalt. if the mark left extends accross the entire width of the tire, the pressure is good. If it only leaves a mark at the center of the tire, the pressure is too high. If the mark left depicts the two outside ends of the tire, the pressure is to low. Keep in mind the mark should be a good depiction of the entire width of the tire tread. Once you get it right, then take a ride and see what it feels like. If you ae still not satisified, the problem is not pressure, and you should look elsewhere. Chalk all your tires, then once the mark depicted is a good mark of the tread. note the pressure on all tires. This IMO is the best way to gauge what pressure you should be running.

X4...what pressure are you running? Your Teraflex shocks ARE gas shocks. Other brands may be valved or constructed differently which also affects how they ride. I switched my Teraflex front shocks out for some Rubicon Express monotubes (for length reasons after modifications) and discovered that they seem to be valved softer on small harsh bumps than the Teraflex. I like them.

My Springs and monotubes are stiffer than what I had or what I expected. I have the Bilstein 5100's.

I'm about to go to a coilover setup with adjustable Fox Racing or King coilover shocks...that way I can adjust the ride as needed. The only downside is cost.

I Drill, I am running about 33 psi with my wrangler mtr's right now. the guy who mounted them decided 41 psi was a good pressure for me which I think is way too high. My ride is much better now and the tire is wearing evenly.

42? Holy Crap! It looks in your avatar that you're on aftermarket wheels...try 30-32 psi. TPMS shouldn't have a problem with that.
