Default Improved MPG...I'm a believer!

Just finished my first tank of gas after installing my CAI. My MPG's are now 18.5 as figured by hand. Was averaging between 17.3 and 17.5 before. I have 4.10 gears, superchips and factory tires.

One tank isn't really enough to be an accurate indicator. The best you can get out of it for now is it didn't go down in mpg.
Your local gas stations may be in transition to summer blend; the local weather may be getting warmer; etc.
You really need a lot more data points during the same type of conditions.

But, like I said, at least it didn't go down.

Not really sure what you mean... I took the miles driven from the trip computer and divided by the gallons to fill up from pump. Those are the figures I got. Been figuring it this way for 28 years.

I realize it will take more then a single tank, but I'm still impressed since I've not seen those numbers in a long time.

My JK's lifetime average is 18.5 mpg. The best I can squeeze out of it is 23 mpg, being very conservative on the highway. It's also pretty good on roads where the speed limit is 45 mph.

I'd be interested to see what's the best you can get being conservative on the highway.

What do you consider conserative on the highway? It's 14 miles to work at 70mph on the highway in rolling hills and some mountains.

I barley have the patience to do this...
Stay between 60 and 65 mph; the limit here is 65.
Let it slow to 60 up the longer hills.
Don't push it on the down hills; back off when it reaches 65.

I can't do this on a regular basis. My normal mileage on the highway is around 21-22 mpg, doing between the limit and 5 over.

(I squeezed 60 mpg out of my VW Golf TDI doing this. Normally it's 55 mpg.)

GAWD, that would be murder! I think I'm just going to be happy if I can maintain 18.5...

I know. It's hard to do.

Give it a try once just for curiosity, especially since you added an item you hope will improve mileage.

I will test your theory on my Rubicon when I drive down to Myrtle Beach from Jersey in August and see what mpg I get
