Default Improving ride quality ome hd and KM2s

I have an ome hd lift with standard ome shocks, and 35 KM2s. The ride is OK, but if I hit a small hole or bump it seems as if I get a lot of hop from the tires. Is this just life with the HD springs? I run the tires at 32lbs, and I have adj LCAs and the TF steering stabilizer.

Lower your tire pressure to 26-28 and see how it does.

What other components have you added with your HD coils?

I had the exact issue with the OME shocks; they simply don't have enough rebound damping to handle your wheel/tire combo. Hop after a bump is a lack of rebound damping.
I switched to the Bilsteins...problem solved.

I emailed BFG and asked them the proper air pressure for 35" KM2s on a JK. They told me to get the same load rating as my original 32" BFGs at 37 PSI that came on my Rubicon to run 30 PSI on the KM2s. And I'm sure that's a conservative number. So I'd run 30 as a max. I'd give 28 PSI a shot and see how it feels.

Zoeydad is on the right track.

Bilsteins would be a good choice.

I've always heard the OME's are softer than the bilsteins. Is that not true? I'm running OME LT's right now but I'd be curious to see what the ride was like with the bilsteins or the teraflex 9550s.

Are there any more people have experience with one or more of those shocks that can chime in?

30 psi is a good number not as conservative as you might think.

I wouldn't run them any lower than 27-28 psi for load considerations but many do as a result of using the chalk test.

Lower air pressure will increase rolling resistance (lower MPG) and tire temp and decrease tread life proportionally.

Also, when you say "hop," does the steering feel loose when it happens?

Is there any clunking noise with the "hop"?
A little, but no noise, and everything seems tight
