Increasing AEV 3.5"nth Degree Lift to 4.5" - HELP!
Hey guys, I just bought a 2008 four door JK with an AEV 3.5" nth degree suspension lift. I asked AEV what would be needed to increase the height to 4.5" so I could run 37s and they said I just needed to swap out the 3.5" springs to 4.5" springs, so I had them shipped to the dealership where I am buying the jeep. The service guy there just called and said that the tires clear but any wieght at all, or just rolling over a speed bump are causing the 37s to rub. This shouldn't be the case should it? What do you think they may have missed? Were there other parts AEV should have advised me to order? Thanks for your help! - Rick

Thanks I know...that's why I can't figure out what the dealership may have missed or done wrong? I thought maybe they should have swapped out more than just the springs?

not necessarily. if the pinch seam corners have not been trimmed, the tires will most likely rub there. also, depending on how much back spacing his wheels have, the tires may rub the fender edges especially if the bump stop extensions have not been increased.

AEV 3.5 and 4.5" are essentially the same.. the dealer needs to swap the coils, bolt the rear trackbar to the upper hole instead of the lower, and take the rear bumpstops out, put them on their side so they are taller, and reinstall them.
Obviously WOL is right about trimming the pinch seam, and the BS on the wheels..

This thread got me concerned. I am waiting on my 3.5 AEV lift to come in. Are my 17 x 9 with 4.75 backspace weels be ok for 35x12 x 17's?
I guess I will trim my pinch seam and rubi rails when I get the lift on to make sure and if and/or when I decide to go to 37's.
