Just a quick, "Thanks!", to planman for his help in this thread. For one thing, I was wondering if Soft 8's came in silver (because everyone is doing black) and I haven't gotten around to looking.

The major problem with steel wheels is the weight. When I had steel wheels on my JKU with 3.73s, you could feel the extra weight. I run stock alloy 17" rims with 35" tires on them, and the Jeep is a little more responsive than it was with the heavy steel Cragars I had before.

This won't make you smile a lot but - the cheapest rims you can get are the ones you already have. They look great and work fine. I say that because when you start modding your Jeep, I would spend the money you have for mods on the most needed items. Then as money avails itself, replace things you already have............. if you need to.

Actually, it usually looks like...nothing. Just a dark blob. Can't see any detail of the wheel. I like black wheels on some Jeeps, don't get me wrong. Two of my buddies have them and they look good. It's just the same flat black stuff motorcyclists started in 2004 with helmets and I'm kind of bored with it.

well if i like them in 35's, i'll be going with pitbull rockers. i thought that they were 14.50's, but i just checked and they're only 12.50's so the 8" wheel will be fine for both.

and back on to the cheap wheel topic, if you're looking for the cheapest of cheap in a 15" wheel, i found these h ttp://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3655850/?rtype=10

I've gone with the Cragar Soft 8s on my last two vehicles and run them on the Jeep in 17x8.

If you're gonna run centercaps, the cragar ones are crap....you can check summitracing for Gorillaz Stainless centercaps, much cheaper and last much longer.

Okay, so if we're looking for an inexpensive steel wheel, they're not (usually? ever?) hub centric. Do we use hub centric rings? What dimensions? Thx.
