Default Inline muffler along driver's side?

There's a good bit of straight pipe along the driver's side of my JK 2 door. I'm thinking I'd like to eliminate the transverse muffler in the back and go to an inline style along that driver's side and reroute the tail pipe.

has anyone done this? What muffler would be fairly quiet yet still fit the area?

My eventual plan is to cut out the tool tray in favor of a larger storage area for either an auxiliary fuel tank or secondary battery, etc.

Lots of people have done it. I used a Magnaflow. Try JeepSwag.com for a larger replacement tool box.

that compartment that jeepswag.com sells... I've looked at that before. With no concept of size in the picture, it seems awful small for the price. Do you know of any dimensions or pictures of it installed?

i had cooltechs kit for a while. i just chopped the pipe 4" past where i had my muffler on the drivers side and its even louder now. crushed the magnaflow that came with their kit, its being replaced with a flow master supper 44 and im going to keep it set up with the exhaust exiting about 4" past the muffler out the rear passenger side.
