I'm actually debating on a set of the Smittybuilt XRC flat fenders, and the only reason I have not purchased them yet is i'm not feeling the love on trimming up the factory wheel wells. I also have no interest in leaving the engine exposed.

As always I appreciate all of the input. The forum is a helpful resource to have access to. I definitely need to come up with a solution sooner than later. The metal cloak liner is about the nicest I've seen. However they will have to wait until the budget allows them. Ha. In the meantime, I hope to be able to fab something out of the factory liners that doesn't look like butt! I still hope to get some of those pics. Surely someone has done this and made it look good.

Do you have pics? Or a "play by play" to get this done? Any info would be appreciated.

Those look really good. I especially like that they are vented!

I have the Smittybilt flats with the metalcloak liners they look great and the install is pretty simple. They come bare aluminum but I decided to paint mine.

I have the Smittybuilt flares and I installed the Metal Cloak aluminium liners last year. I have a 2012 and the passenger side liner does NOT fit unless you move the wiring harness from the firewall and zip tie it out of the way. In order to do that you need to make space below the battery tray with some pretty creative trimming. I may be mistaken but I think if you have a 2012 or newer you will run into this issue. Other than that I like the liners just fine.

I wasn't happy with the looks after cutting my fenders either. So I fixed mine with expanding foam, sprayed with PlastiDip then covered with gorilla tape and then sprayed again with several coats of PlastiDip. Looks really clean and factory when finished!!

What year is your JK? Did you have to remove the PSC fenders to install the inners?

I have a 2014.

No, you do not have to remove the flares to install them.
