Inquiring about the need for certain suspension components
Hey all,
I am looking to get a lift installed on my 15 JKU fairly soon and I have been looking at Metal Cloak specifically. I am currently trying to figure out which components of the lift I truly need and if I should get everything with the Gamechanger kit OR go with the Dual Rate and add components down the line. I understand it will cost a lot more down the line to get everything else installed separately, but I'm not sure I even need some of the additional components for what I am using it for.
I use it as a daily driver and I am travelling to construction sites all day so it is used a lot during the day. Once this virus clears up and life begins to return to normal, I will be taking the Jeep out on weekends and it will be seeing some moderate off roading. I am aware of what components would need to be added if I go with the lower end kit, but I can't say I am confident in knowing which of these components, if any, would be needed or not.
So my question mainly is, will I need the full set of control arms, rear track bar, etc for the type of driving that the Jeep will be seeing?
Thanks in advance, and I hope everyone and their families are safe during this time!

You should be looking at a 2.5" lift then. No you don't need the full blown game changer lift. The true deal rate 2.5 kit https://metalcloak.com/jk-wrangler-2...lift-kits.html would be the one to get.
Metalcloak does a good job giving you the components you need for each lift, for the most part. You most likely don't need a full set of arms, but you haven't really stated how high you are thinking. I'd really stick with 2.5" lift with 35s, but that is just my opinion. One of the most important aspects of lifting is correcting caster post-life. MC provides front upper control arms in their dual rate lift. That will be fine for 2.5" lifts. If you were going for the 3.5" lift, I'd probably get both front upper and lower arms along with a highsteer kit (new DL for a flip and a raised TB bracket). In the rear, a raised TB bracket for the axle is typically enough to get by on. An adjustable rear TB is nice to get the axle perfectly centered, but most can get by with just the raised bracket to start.
If you go with the game-changer, the extra $1k is getting you 6 additional control arms, their 6-pack shocks, and adjustable rear TB. You likely don't need the fancy 6-pack shocks, and you can easily add additional arms and rear TB later on if you deem necessary and are tight on budget now.
I'd probably go with the dual rate 2.5" lift with the rocksport shocks for now. Expect that to net you more like 3" of lift.

Forgot to mention in the title I was looking at 2.5'' of lift. I was mainly worried about geometry issues but it seems that at only 2.5'' of lift I should be fine.
The mechanic I'm bringing it to says he has the gamechanger kit in stock but he can build the lesser kit if I want to go with that. So, I was wondering if it would be worth it to try and ask if he would be willing to install, for example, a rear track bar since he has the parts from the kit. This could allow me to save money by not going with the more expensive kit, but being able to install one component and save on additional labor.

You need to check your math, the game changer 6 pack is $4206 where the 2.5 true dual rate with rock sport shocks is $1555. 6 pack shocks are nearly $2k themselves and you absolutely do not need the 6 pack shocks.
