Question Install Q - order of install...

Do i install my TF 2.5 BB first with stock wheels (ive read here there are rubbing issues), and then install the Rugged Ridge wheels / 33 tires?

Or do i install the wheels / tires... then install the lift...

This is assuming it will be several days between the 2 installs (plus lift installed at home..and tires mounted / balanced at a shop...

Or is this a "all at once"? where i get the tires balanced.. then isntall the list and tires all at once?

Plus.. how many tires can you store in the back..ie replace the stock with aftermarket..gota lug my stocks home again...

thx!

Either way.

33's on wheels with the proper backspace should be ok until you get the lift. If it rubs a bit, yank off the plastic skid, bring in the steer stops a bit, don't turn so sharp, go slower over speedbumps, etc.

Or, generally it is the new rear links that cause the rubbing on stock wheels/tires. Get the lift installed, and if you rub, just swap the old links back on until you get the tires. Or leave the stock links on and swap to new links after the tires are on.

Or, throw the new tires in back and install with the lift. If you don't have room, remove the spare, bolt a new on up there and toss 3 in the back.

(I had all 5 of my stock 32" sahara tires in the back of my unlimited)

ok.. install the lift + jks disconnects. LEAVE the rear links in place. Once wheels/tires are on, then swap out the rear links.

And there should not be any issues with stock rear links with the bigger tires...?

And no issues going in the dirt before the wheels/tires with the lift / stock rears?

thx!

You are getting new wheels with less backspace? As long as they are pushed out far enough, that is correct.

And no issues going in the dirt before the wheels/tires with the lift / stock rears? thx!
The problem with short (stock) links is that when you go out and flex, there is a chance the swaybar will flip around backwards - which turns the links into pretzels and may damage anything near them.

I haven't actually seen posts where the rear has done it though, it has been the fronts. With only 2.5 inches of lift, this shouldn't be an issue, but is something to keep in mind when you're out there playing.

ok...so stay off the dirt until links are in place..check

the new wheels will be rugged ridge 17x9 with 12mm offset and 4 and 9/16s back spacing (so thats about.. 4.56 inches.

and the tires will be 33s... still haven't decided on those yet...

Sounds like you've got a plan!

I installed my 33's first. I still took it off road without the lift I just didn't disco my sway. I'd rub a bit off road from flex.

Then I installed my lift.

I was able to fit springs, shocks old track bar and endlinks as well as all 5 stock X rims/tires in my 09 2 door.

Good luck and post pictures!
