Default Installed 33's now Jeep doesn't roll the same. Are breaks on?

I installed Trail Grapplers with XD addicts yesterday getting rid of the 16" pizza cutter wheels and tires. Maybe it's normal but now the Jeep doesn't roll nearly as far as it used to once I let off the gas and when I drive around it almost feels like the brakes are slightly engaged. Is this normal?

Please forgive my ignorance but this is my first Jeep and first set of 33's.

Also my gas mileage seems to have gone way down. Would going from 16" rims and stock wheels to 33's throw of my speedo and mileage?

So you went from stock 225/55/16 to 285/75/17? Yes jumping up that much can make your speedo get off.

As to the slowing down faster when you let off the gas, It might be from the heavier tires. Someone else might chime in with a better reason in a few.

PS. Awesome choice in tires.

i went from the rubi stockers to 35 trail grapplers and it doesnt feel like it could roll as far but i would go as far to say that it feels like the breaks are on . if u recalibrate ure speedo it might make ure onboard mpg readings look more normal?

Maybe it was just such a change from the very basic 16" wheels to what I have now. I do know they are a much heavier tire but still not like going to 35's I would not think.

Sounds pretty normal, unless your tires are rubbing somewhere, but I'm sure you would have noticed that. You can use a speed app on your android or iphone to find out how far off your speedo is. Mine was about 5mph low at 55. I had similar issues, maybe not quite as extreme as you're describing. I increased the air pressure in the tires from 35 to 40 psi and it seems a little less sluggish now.

There is a hell of a lot more rolling resistance in larger, heavier and aggressively treaded tires.

The 29" narrow pizza cutters would have about the least amount of rolling resistance possible on a jk.

That's one of the compromises of running off-road packages, and a reason your MPG is now reduced. Your stock tires may not have looked good but they were possibly the best combination for coasting and MPG. Your engine and the 3.21 gears are now working a lot harder to get those puppies moving.

The chain of upgrading begins.
