Default Installed AEV Front Bumper and Winch

I just installed my new AEV Front Bumper and Warn 9.5ti winch. AEV must be stepping up production of the bumper because it only took about 4 weeks to receive it. I was told when I ordered it that it would be 8 weeks.

The install was fairly straight forward and the instructions on AEV's web site are pretty good. It was however very time consuming. It took me about 8 hours. Maybe, I'm just slow though. Cutting the crush cans off of the original bumper mount was probably the biggest hassel.

I couldn't be happier with the quality and look of the bumper. It is rather pricey, but the detail is excellant.

I have not tried yet, but it looks like there is a big enough gap to remove the grill.

I don't remember the exact cost, but it was somewhere around $1500 with the skid plate, tow mounts, and winch mount. I think the bumper alone is around $1100. I bought it from Quadratec. You can check their site.

Thanks,

Mike

Edit: Actually the $1100 includes the winch mount. I think you can get just the bumper for around $800 or so.

How rugged is that skid plate? Thicker then the Skid Row one?

Thanks in advance.

The skid plate seems very rugged. It appears to be the same thickness as the bumper. I may dent it, but I don't think I will be able to damage anything under it. It really only cover's the sway bar disconnect though.

yea they are nice bumpers. hopefully I'll get to install mine this weekend. my bumper, skid plate, tow hooks, winch mount have been sitting in the shop for over a week. I'm doing a right up on the install for Four Wheeler mag and I have to wait for the editor to come up and shoot pics of the install...

Very nice, but way too expensive for me. Maybe I should quit my job and start a business making Jeep parts. I've known how to weld and paint since I was 18.

Default Looks great

Looks great well done. It is an excellent choice i will be ordering soon. One question though where will you put the number plate isnt it illegal not to put the number plate in the front?

Also with the winch maintenance how difficult it is to do the service do you have to take it out of the bumper to do that ??

In Georgia, as in many states in the US, a front license plate is not required. If I had to have one I would make or buy something that allowed me to attach it to the winch fairlead and remove it when I needed to use the winch.

As far as maintenance goes, I'm not sure how much maintenance is required on the newer winches. It is no problem getting to the spool, and if needed you can remove the mount bolts from the bottow of the winch and slide the winch several inches in either direction to access the sides of it. To remove the winch, you must remove the bumper first.
