Installed MBRP catback... is it really this loud?
I just installed a new MBRP Stainless factory location cat-back today. It sounds good and everything, but is a little louder in the cabin than I expected. It's not really intrusive or anything... but a little loud. It seems to be ok cruising, and is just kind of "there" when driving, but on accelerating it's kind of loud. I installed with an impact and tightened the clamps down about as tight as anyone can get them. I have heard it can be louder than what it should be with exhaust leaks. I stuck my head under the car with it running and am not hearing anything at all, other than exhaust note coming from the tip. Also, I have heard the tone mellows out a bit with age. What are your experiences with this exhaust?
I love my stock position MBRP's exhaust note. My son who is learning to drive in our Jeep commented last night he never gets tired of it. The note does mellow and deepen as it breaks in but after 2500 miles I have stopped noticing any additional deepening of the note. The dB volume has not changed louder or softer just a richer fuller note. I will say your verbal description was spot on.
We are pleased with ours but there have been a few post from some who removed theirs because of the loudness and back ground drone.
