Default Installed new Rugged Ridge mirror relocation brackets

Hello,
Just wanted to let you know that I just finished putting the Rugged Ridge Stainless brackets for my JK. First off the quality is very good. The fillers and brackets look great on the truck. My only problem is the right one is about as useless as tits on a bull. The right pillar totally blocks the mirror. I like taking my doors off when the weather is warm, which is never in Chicago. You would think maybe they would make a extension for the right side. Not sure if I am going to keep them or not. Also the plastic fillers did not work to tighten the mirror on new bracket. I had to come up with another plan.

So anyone else have opinions on this product?

It is well known that the pass mirror is worthless with these brackets...

yea the pass side is worthless. besides the fact i have a snorkel. although someone on here did add 2 inches to the bracket and said that the mirror was totally better on the pass side after extending it. this is on my list of things to do. for now i just left the pass side on the door and when i take the doors off i don't run a mirror on the pass side. no one has busted my chops for not having one on the pass side yet so i am not worried about it right now. when i get the time i will extend the mirror and post up some pics

I think that's been a problem for many mirror solutions for doorless Jeeps over the years. You can get some aftermarket mirrors/brackets in pairs but it always seems the view to the passenger side mirror is always obscured. I remember running my aftermarket YJ passenger side mirror out in front of the windshield just so I could see it.

Yeah I may look for a machine shop to make me an extension for it. If Ferrari can get away with one mirror I am sure it's not a problem for us Jeep owners. I believe in Chicago there is no law for not having mirrors on cars. A Jeep guy told me. Hope he is right!!

I could be wrong but if your rear window is obstructed (like with a large spare tire) you are supposed to have a pass side mirror. I would just leave it on even if it is obstructed.

ok, so I know that the passenger side bracket sucks... if/when I get a set of these, I won't be using that one... what I want to know, however, is how the visibility changes on the driver's side when the mirror's relocated, particularly when the doors are on... I know it'll be moved forward a bit, so it won't be exactly the same as having the mirror on the door, but is visibility pretty much the same? worse? better?

thanks...

As you'll read in any of the other 20 threads on these brackets, driver side visibility is fine. Except for the first few minutes of driving, I don't even notice a difference anymore.

cool, thanks... i'd read a few of those threads but only really found specific opinions expressed in regards to the passenger side mirror... I assumed, of course, that meant that the driver's side was fine (you know... people generally have a lot more to say about the things that piss them off than the things that work fine)... anyway, thanks for the answer...
