Default Installing 1" coil spacers front question

Tomorrow I'm planning on installing my 9.5ti winch and 1" Teraflex front coil spacers. Is the process for the one inch pretty much the same as adding the 2.5"?

I have the auto so will I need to remove the skid plate to allow the drive shaft to drop down enough or can I get the 1" spacers in without doing that?

Also am I going to need to remove front track bar?

How long start to finish should it take someone with basic hand tools and a little know how?

Yes it is basicly the same install. I did not remove my track bar, in fact I did not even remove the wheel on the driver side, the passenger side was more difficult so I had to remove that wheel. It took me about 1 hour to do it.

You shouldn't have to remove the skid plate, although removing the track bar at the axle will aid in removing/installing the springs. Mine drooped down enough not to have to remove either, but it would have been easier with the track bar removed.

Thanks for the input. I'll need a torque wrench for the sway bar though won't I? I currently don't have one and was hoping I didn't have to make that purchase yet.

I know I need one, just haven't gone and made the purchase. Can I get one of those in 3/8" I don't seem to recall seeing them in anything other than 1/2" and 3/4"?

If not should I be ok using a 1/2" to 3/8" reducer? Sounds like a dumb question I'm sure, but wasn't sure about the applied torque on a 3/8" drive.

1. put Jeep on jack stands and remove both wheels.

2. Unbolt 1 side of the track bar.

3. unbolt shocks while supporting the axle with a jack

4. pull spring and place in spacers.

5. bolt it back up.

I just did 3/4" spacers. It's pretty easy.

Thanks for the tip!

Either side? Looks like the one on the driver side would be easiest to remove.
125 ft/lbs or torque when I put it back on?

Yah that's fine. Be sure to torque it as you mentioned and I would also use lock tite. Mine is notorius for coming loose.

When I installed my 1" spacers I didn't need to un-bolt the track bar. Several weeks later I pulled the spacers and put in 1 3/4" spacers and still didn't need to do the track bar, though it was a little tougher than the 1" spacers.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but you are doing this on a stock rig, which is what I did. Clackey's Jeep already had a 3" lift when he did his. Like I said, I have no idea what kind of difference it may make, but I do know that with all the issues that others have had with the track bar coming loose after they've un-bolted it, I wanted to avoid pulling bolts on mine if possible.

As far as the skid goes, I did take it off, but I don't know how necessary it was. I figured it was easier to go ahead and do it instead of trying to monkey with it half way through the process.

Enjoy the install! I learned a lot about my Jeep when I did that install.

I was planning on taking some measurements before and after 1" spacers and after adding the winch. I'll take some side shots as well. I already have the shrockworks midwidth installed so it won't be a complete stock setup, but should give you a good idea.

What would be a good reference point for measuring? Center of headlight, front lower edge of fender?

After church I need to track down a torque wrench and then I'll get started.....really don't want to mess with the track bar if I don't have to

Will try and post results and pics later this evening.
