Unhappy Installing 33s on stocker Moabs a no go?? What!??

So a month or so ago I installed a Terflex 2.5" coil lift on my 13 JK. Looks great, and rides as good as stock. I had zero issues with the install and couldn't be any happier. While installing the kit I put on a set of Spydertrax spacers, with the intentions of keeping the stock 17 Moabs, but going up to 33s on them (I really like the look of the stock wheels).

So today my Nitto Trail Grappler 295/70 R17's show up today and I run them up to the local Pep Boys to have them install the tires on my rig. I mention to the guy that they will fit fine due to the spacers I have on the JK and it's like he threw the damn anchor out. "No sir, we cannot install these tires on these wheels and put them on your Jeep with spacers." He informs me that they will remove my spacers and put the wheels on with the new tires though, LOL.

So tomorrow it will be off to a shop that will do this for me. Keep in mind that I currently have 5 Trail Grapplers loaded in the back of my wifes Highlander and she is not pleased with Mr. Pep Boy. Anybody else run into this?

It's a common thing at a lot of these national chain stores. It's for insurance reasons. Most people have better luck with mom and pop type shops.

yes, i believe it is an insurance thing. about 5 years ago i went to get tires at costco on my 1988 mustang. it had 17 inch wheels, vs. the stock 15's. they refused to install tires on it.

Is the pic of your jeep with the lift on it? Did you install the coil spring lift? It looks great and will look even better with those trail grapplers!

Its symantics you cannot have spacers, those thin metal plates that slide over existing lugs leaving less thread. You have adapters that have their own lugs. Local discount tire did not have problem with my adapters.

Discount will do installs of vehicles with spacers however they will not install spacers or do any other work on your vehicle and you are liable for any probs with it. I know cause discount got wrong backspace for my jeep and I really liked the wheels so manager offered to by 1.5 spacer for me and the corporate said nope

Thanks for all the replies guys. So it worked out in the end. I loaded up the stockers, two at a time in my wifes Highlander and ran them up the the local Merchants. They did the two, I took them back home, put them on and then ran the front two up, then the spare. All in all I am very happy with the look that it gives, just not so much how I had to get it there. But heck, I was too excited to get them on!!
I will post a pic up later of how she sits now.
