Default installing rugged ridge fuel door

I'm thinking about getting the Rugged ridge black fuel door. I have the mopar chrome fuel door with the special cup. will the rugged ridge fuel door be able to attach to the special mopar cup or will i have to get a stock cup?

I am not sure what the Mopar "special cup" is made of but I have installed a locking RR fuel door on our rig. The RR has four tabs that lay against the interior of the stock plastic cup. Drive the supplied screws through the tabs into the cup and the install is done. In the attached photo you can see one of the phillips head screws I am talking about at 7 - 8 o'clock. When I did the install I put a dab of RTV sealant in the tab hole started the screw through the RTV, ran a bead of RTV around the screw at the tab through 1 revolution then went ahead and drove the screw home.

To be honest I wish I had spent more. When you look at the photo you can see the source of my disappointment. What are meant to appear to be allen head screws holding the cover in place are pretty obviously stamped impressions. The locking feature is great, the cup won't fill with mud, the small magnets to hold the door closed are a nice touch, and from a distance I think the look is good. Overall, I am pleased and I did like the price so I probably shouldn't complain.

thanks, i was under the impression that those allen head screws went into the face of the insert, like my mopar fuel door did. I think this rugged ridge cap will cover the perforated mopar insert and do what I am looking for. too bad they didn't include a 3m automotive "gasket" to provide a better seal...

I have the mopar locking gas cap, it should work with your set up. I'd recommend it simply because it can be fitted by the dealership to work with your Jeep key, so you don't need to have an additional key on your key ring. It's not cheap though, but it certainly does the job.
