Default Installing winch tomorrow advice reqest

Never installed a winch before. I only have what came new in the box smittybilt 8000. Anything else you think I will need or tips to help out with the install would be greatly appreciated. I have a winch plate installed already.

I ran my ground and my power cable in a protective sleeve to help protect it. From the winch all the way to the battery. You can get the stuff at Radio Shack or any a electronics place.

very careful with routing , securing and protecting the positive cable esp . look on youtube or do a search here , describes the best way to run them on a jk . also make sure to fully spool out all cable and wind it back in with tension on it , that way when u have to use it the cable doesnt bury itself in between wraps on the cable underneath it

Thanks any more suggestions. The re-spooling under load is good info.
I always use wire loom to protect electrical wires.

Did you check to see if you need the vac pump relocation bracket? I did a LOD front bumper and winch and bought the EVO bracket. It moves the vac pump from the inside drivers frame rail down lower out of the way. Mine is a 2012 as well and the vac pump was totally in the way. Thanks Jeep Engineers!!!

Good luck!

I have a pavement ends front bumper and winch plate. No relocation required . Good heads up though.
