Default intake and exhaust opinions?

i am trying to decide which intake and exhaust i want to put on my jk. it is an 07 2 door x, 6 spd. of course i would like as much bang for my buck as possible but i understand i get what i pay for. any opinions would be helpful.

i had read somthing about the AEM Brute Force intake.
is it any good?

are there really any differences in the different cold air intakes?

and for exhaust.. i want somthing that isnt going to sound like i am driving a honda. can i just get a 2 chamber flowmaster put on at a muffler shop and work fine or should i get an entire cat back? i had a flowmaster on my truck and liked it alot.

thanks alot.

The CAI will be a great addition. I have seen the numbers on the different ones, and there is not a ton of difference. I would go with a good name and get a good price. I have an AirAid and am very pleased.

I went with the Magnaflow performance muffler, which brought the CAI sound to the entire power band, rather than just on acceleration. I get compliments on the sound. I didn't really notice much of a power gain with the muffler. Someone else can address the performance of a full cat back system, but it seems as though the exhaust system is not real restrictive, and a cat back may be overkill.

Headers are just now coming out, and I am curious how they are performing. I have not heard any reports on power out of the headers.

Hope this helps a little...

I went with the Trueflow. See attached pics

I have had good luck. Many compliments on sound and look.

I am still deciding on exhaust. I am stongly considering a dual system.

My local shop wants to use a flowmaster muffler that is designed for a camaro that would result in a dual exhaust system.

Default cat back

I went with a 2 3/4 inch stainless steel system on my JK that has a Cherry Bomb in line muffler and it looks AND works great with my K&N cold air intake and the Hypertech power programmer. This new muffler system takes the muffler out from the rear location between the frame and relocates it along side the frame near the drivers door. The exhaust still exits to the rear on the drivers side inline with the whole system.

I just installed the AEM brute force about a week ago and I can say you won't be disappointed if you get it. There's not a huge difference, but you definitely notice it when accelerating. I think this in combination with an exhaust will really open up the engine. As it is, the AEM brute force is great.

I went with a PureJeep CAI and a Gibson dual exit exhaust. Together there is a noticible power gain as well as a slight MPG gain. IMO both of of good quality and built solidly and together i think it ran me about $600. Install was super easy for both as well.

I have the AEM and a Flowmaster Super44 on my 2dr and I think it sounds good. Both have held up well so far.

If bang for buck is a priority, I would go with the cheapest/best deal you can find on each reputable product, as the bang will be minimal regardless of the brand. As for sound, that is highly subjective therefore you'll have to try to find sound samples to make sure you don't get something that is an annoyance to your ear.
