Internal Lighting Help!!!
Looking for ideas on how to improve interior lighting using new lighting under foot well and other places.
Have you put in LED's in the foot well? How were they wired?
Ever add lighting to the door? How were they wired/installed?
Other internal lighting ideas? How to wire?

There are several threads on here showing that. I bought several LED strips at Autozone along with a few LED bolts. I will take pics in a minute to show you. If you have a newer Jeep it's easy to add them. I have a 13 JK which has a small LED light already in each footwell and I just pulled it out, cut the wires and attached the LED strip to it. I then went up to the sound bar and pulled it off and soldered a LED bolt to each side and put them facing forward and down for each front seat. I also swapped out both front and back factory lights with aftermarket LEDs. They are brighter and white unlike the factory yellowish ones. I didn't want them to look different then the color of the LED strips. As far as I know you can't change the map lights which isn't a big deal because they are useless anyway. I flipped my mirror upside down anyway because it gives a better view and put a piece of black electrical tape over each one so you can't see them when they come on since they don't match the white LED color either. The only time you would see them is when you unlock or lock the doors with your keyless entry. The sky is the limit on interior LED's. Bolt lights on eBay are pretty cheap.

Do a eBay search on LED bolts and you will find them pretty cheap. With that said, luckily I ordered several extra since they were so cheap and come from China and one out of the six or so I ordered broke pretty easy so I had a spare one. LED strips come in two packs at Walmart or Autozone and are pretty bright. I put two in the passenger footwell, one in the driver side and one on the center console that you can see in my pictures. I have tons of bright light.

I mounted my Smittybilt Console a couple of weeks ago. I also inverted my rearview mirror a while back, so the map lights in the bottom of the mirror are useless, so I added 4 small round LED pods for map lighting.

I added blue lights in my foot well of my first Jeep. I didn't like them for very long, it looked kind of ricey. Now I have white LED strips in my foot wells that are tied to the dome light. On the passenger side on the floor between the door and the seat there is a plastic covered wireway. Remove that and find a yellow wire with a white stripe. This is the switched power to the dome light. ( comes on with column switch, open door ect... ) Theres factory ground bolts all over the place like the two front corners on the side walls close to the floor.

If your doing LEDs I wouldnt worry cause they draw very little power. If your adding a lot change your stock dome lights to leds. If your adding a ton use a relay. Depending on when you want your additional lights to be on some people wire them to the hvac lights so they come on with the rest of the dash lights.
