Issues with BFG KM2's in winter... other options?
I've tried to search to no real solution. I'm having a hard time with my BFG KM2's in the winter... they're 37x12.5x17 on a 2008 JK Rubicon with 5.13's. They go through pretty much anything, but they're horrible on ice... I slide down hills all the time. I've ran MTR's and TrXus M/T's on previous vehicles and these definitely are the worst out of the 3.
Should I just buckle down and buy BFG A/T KO's for the winter? How do they handle deep snow, ice, etc? Are there any other better options?

when you make small cuts in the thread lugs. I bought a tool on ebay to do ours, it made a huge difference in ice/wet traction. Go on ebay and look up tire groovers, it only took about 15 minutes a tire. Here is a good explaination: ww w.lesschwab.com/siping.asp
Very cool, that makes sense, never seen that before.

yes look into siping any tire company will do it for you for between 20-35 bucks a tire. MAKES ALL THE DIFFRENCE IN THE WORLD.
at work we have an International MXT pickup and it comes with
40x14.5x20 procomp allterrains and it went no where in the snow and ice and that stayes around for like 6-8 months... we got the tires siped $35 per tire for 40's and it still is no Ice tire but unbelievable for a 14.5" wide off road tire.
I reccommend it and almost everyone up here in northern BC will sipe there MT tire
Also this may be alittle more cost effective than buying another set of tires

As you most likely already know all tires suck on ice, but mud tires are the worst!
If you considering an alt winter tire stay away from BFG A/T's. Look for a tire pinned for studs...
Hankook Dynapro RT03 is a good all around tire and its pinned.

well worth the 60 bucks for the tool and the hour or so of labor.
