Jack and Jack Stand sizes?
Hey guys,
I'm planning on doing a RK 3.5 x factor lift in a couple of weeks and I was wondering what size jack and jack stand (weight and size it extends to) that you guys have used/recommended? Thanks.

From memory my jack and stands are 3t. Go bigger if you can but if not these have served me for a couple of spring upgrades, front springs on my 4dr and rear on a friends 2 dr. Top tip for the front springs- take the transmission skid plate off to allow the axle to drop further and put the stands just behind the lower control arm brackets. Don't jack on the front D30 pumpkin, undoing the brake calipers will also allow more axle drop. Good luck.
get the ones from Harbor Freight for jack stands..they will do what you need them to do and safely...the jack however, I bought a Craftsman...im not exactly sure which one, but do you're research and read reviews.
The Harbor Freight 6 ton stands are great, they're on sale now for $29 w/ super coupon btw. I use a regular (unknown brand) floor jack, I think its a 2 ton/17 inch max lift coupled with a 4x4 piece of wood to raise the Jeep. Craigslist has lots of good, cheap, and hardly used floor jacks for sale.
Just bit the bullet yesterday myself. Bought a 2.5 ton from HF (74.99) and the 6 ton jackstands (29.99), both seem very nice for the money. I had to go larger for working on the Jeep. I got tired of trying to use my little 2 ton trolley jack and 2 and 3 ton jackstands. I think my trolley jack went to 14" and the new one goes to 20"..I think the extra 6" will help...at least thats what she said.
Just researching this myself so that I can rotate my tires, etc. I went the wood block route on my last vehicle and am tired of cobbing it so figured I better do it right. Looks like I'll be looking for a jack that can go at least 20"...good news is I have the jack stands already.
