Default Jack Stands

Are 3 ton stands sufficient when putting on an OME 3" lift of do I need 6 ton jacks to lift the frame high enough? Would like to be sure I have what I need before getting started. TIA.

6-tons would be better, but no need to run out and buy them if you already have 3-tons.

Its not so much the weight capacity, but the lift height. I had to get 12 ton stands, but they lift 28" tall and I can drop my axles no problem with the jackstands on the frame.

Remember, if you do the front first, and rear second (one end @ a time) there will less than 1.5 tons on the stands at any time....so yours will do the actual supporting job just fine.

I've been using 2 tons on my 2 door so I'd think 2 tons would be just fine. Actually just used them for the front end of the wifes Overland last night. The WJ Overland is a little heavier than a JK

I used 6ton and was able to get high enough to drop the axle and swap springs. Just do on end at a time as mentioned before - don't forget to block your stationary wheels from rolling.

Yep, same here. Went with huge 12 tons because they are tall so a lot less hassle adjusting shorter jack stands. And they are beefy as hell.

I used Craftsman 3 ton High Lift Jack Stands ($30/pair) that extend to 21". I was able to drop my suspension low enough to
easily put on the OME springs.

Probably not necessary, but if I did it again I would think about buying the bigger(6 ton) stands
just for the improved stability.
