Stumbled upon these on eBay. There's a zinc coated version for $50 and stainless steel for $99. The zinc coated version is a great cheap alternative to Drakes. Looks good too.

Anyone have these? Thoughts?

It's the same general concept as Drakes but is more DIY, requires drilling of the stock latch bases and uses zinc coated steel instead. That's where I think the price difference comes from the most.

Anyway, I went ahead and ordered them. Will write back once they're installed and let you know.

Got the latches in the mail yesterday. USPS priority mail box and two simple plastic bags with the latches in them. Nice clean simple construction. The cv joints are really nice and smooth. Materials are high quality but not flashy. The pin retainer feature is clever and really holds well. Install soon. Pics and install notes to follow.

Install complete. If I didn't kick my fasteners around the garage so much it would have only taken me 30 mins. Results can vary because of the DIY nature of the latches (embarrassingly, one of my pins was straight the other off kilter. I didn't watch it when I drilled my first set of holes). But overall a very easy product to install, even easier to dial in and works great! Test drive tomorrow going to work.
