Default Jeep Rides Insanely Bumpy

I love my Jeep, an 07 4dr Unlimited X but its insanely bumpy on Los Angeles streets.

It came with cheap 16 inch rims with street tires on it and had the cheap black shocks on it.

I upgraded the tires to some Moab 17 inch with the MT BF Goodrich tires and then upgraded the shocks to some take-off red rubicon shocks. It was somewhat better but not much. It does ride fine on newly paved streets, but in Los Angeles the roads here are borderline 3rd world. It feels like I'm riding on a boat in very rough seas.

Yes I know Jeeps are bumpy and the suspension is a bit primitive, but I know my Jeep rides so much worse than most. I have test driven new 2013 Jeeps that arent that bumpy at all and even other Jeep owners that have got into my Jeep have said theirs are not as bumpy riding.

Has anybody ever heard of this, do you know what the problem might be, and what do you think is a remedy? Was there something I missed when I did the upgrades?

I know it isnt simply "Jeeps are bumpy"

Appreciate your insight.

Its just the stock Rubicon set up: 32-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires

The PSI is prob very high and its what ever the Jeep stealership puts in, but I doubt that I would ever lower it as I drive long range for work.

Well i would at least see what it is set at. Over inflated tires will give you an uncomfortable ride. I would think stock bfg's should be in the 35 psi range for wear and comfort. Not positive on that . It's the first thing I would check.

It's a harsh reality but with the solid front and rear axles on the jk, we are always gonna have some of the roughest riding vehicles on the road. I have a fair amount of dough poured into my suspension, including fox 2.0 shocks, mopar 2.5" springs meant for a jku, bilstein steering stabilizer to help stabilize the steering feel, track bars, drag link, etc. Here in denver, we have some nonsensical roads ass well. I curse my jeep on the way too and from work but its the price i pay to have the offroad capability .

soon as i put meaty tiires on the nice ride and milage was gone ! i traded up for a rubicon its even worse lol its the way the jeeps just are

I knew this type of generalized blanket statement would be coming but I can assure you its just not a case of "my Jeep has lame suspension because its a Jeep"
