Default Jerry can in front of grill

Newbie here.
Not many places to mount a jerry can.. but how bad would it be to put a jerry can mount on a pre-runner bumper? I don't use it/have it full when i drive around town, so no worries on it exploding if i run into something... but as far as it restricting airflow to the radiator.. how bad would it be? a NATO jerry can in front?

thoughts?

If I were the type of person to cut people off in traffic, I think a gas can on the front of a Jeep would keep me from cutting you off.

I would guess a big blocker for fresh air with the already hot running JK is a bad mix

I used to have it mounted to the spare which puts even more leverage on the tailgate, I also have the MPAC rack on the inside gate with an axe and some bags mounted. I ran like this for about 20K without issues, so I am not too worried.

Rampage also makes that bracket to support a high lift jack which ways more than the gas can will even when full so I assume they tested it for strength before selling the product.

If you also have a larger than stock heavy tire and wheel mounted then it may start to be an issue, but I do not.

Full Jerry can will weight in at about 41lbs. your 48" hi-lift will only weigh 28lbs

Ah ok I stand corrected. But as I said I ran this set up for a long time with the gas can mounted to the spare without issue so I'm not too worried. I even had heavier steel wheels then.

Also it's only full when I'm on the trail, 90% of the time the can will be empty.

YMMV.

yeah see, that was another concern why I opted not to throw it on the tailgate. A full jerry can will wreck that bizitch.

That's the thing though, MOST of the time my jerry can will be empty up front, it's just whenever i'm on the trail, which I will not be cruising at 45mph on rocks.
