Default Jerry Can Location

Dont know if this is the right thread for this, if not please move.
ID like to know if its possible to put a Jerry can mount on the right side of a stock 09 tailgate?
IF so, what would be required and would it hit the tail light whentailgate is open?
Anyone done this??? Pics if possible.
Thanks.

I dont want to carry one inside either and dont really want to change out the bumper and tire carrier
to accomplish this.
I have seen one setup that had a five gallon on the right side of the stock tire but cant remember where I saw it.

Google ROTOPAX. They have many different tall and skinny cans and you may be able to fab something up with their mounting systems that will not hit the taillight.
Good Luck

I haven't drawn anything up yet, but I'm thinking of making a jerry can bracket that would saddle the spare tire and secure to that, with a strap around the spare, then a ratchet strap or similar to hold the fuel can in place. Basically be a poor-man's can holder, but I think it would work well for the infrequent times I need to carry extra fuel (like the Maze trip I leave on Thursday morning). The bracket could probably even be easily modified to hold all shapes and sizes of cans.

Any other ideas?

i think this is the one that smbundy13 is talking about, seems like the best idea.
