Do you have to run premium fuel on a stage 2 chip?

Your wasting your money on a stage 2 chip, your jeep does not meet the requirements for that chip. The stage 2 chip is for high performance engines. The 180 thermostat is required because the engine timing is cranked up, hense the engine is going to run hotter. High octane gas is needed to stop detination.

I am not certain but I dont think that is correct

and in the details it does say to use a 180 degree thermostat

Product Details
Stage 2-Designed for the performance enthusiast, the Stage 2 features more aggressive programming to make the most horsepower and torque available. Fuel and timing curves are extensively modified for peak performance and drivability. Requires use of 91 octane fuel, 180 degree thermostat and free flow exhaust. Also works well with aftermarket intake systems, mass air sensors, TBI spacers, etc.

The JET Performance Module for Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep vehicles is a JET exclusive. Dynamic Spectrum Tuning provides power gains across the entire power band-not just at full throttle. Point by point air/fuel ratio, ignition advance and various other tuning points provide performance gains of up to 25 horsepower. Improves throttle response, acceleration and low end torque. Simple, plug-in installation in less than 30 minutes.

Headers, free flowing exhaust, high performance intake manifold. And most of the horse power made with the stage 2 chip is in the upper rpm range. Stick with what you have!

You can expect MPG to go down and throttle response to go up! Horsepower will not be that noticable over the stage one. By the way you will get the same "basiccly" performance by getting a hypertech and you can switch between stock, regular and performance tuning as well as OBDII code reader tire size adjustments thermostat settings gear ratios etc. I would not advise springing for another 300.00 jet chip. But if you are set on it i would like to see your numbers. hopefully it will not take you down to 13mpg though.
