Default Jet module or K&N air filter?

Hello to all!

I am a new Wrangler owner and need some advice.

I have a stock Wrangler X JK that I want to improve the performance of. I have put 32 inch Sahara wheels and tires which has reduced a bit of the HP to the road and I am looking for an inexpensive way of bring some of it back.

Would a Jet Performance module or a cold air mod be the better way to go?

Thanks for your help.

Wrangler Chuck

I would start with the intake. From what I have read the Jet module in not that helpfull when used alone.

Quite honestly, I would just put a k&n stock filter. You won't notice any differerence except for a more throaty sound with just a air intake kit. UNLESS you combine it with a bigger more freeflow exhaust. Just my past experience.

I don't know why they call it a "cold" air intake either. Its just an open air filter. Pretty much taking in the same warm engine air, just more of it.

Really, you won't notice any difference in mpg or hp, just an empty tank faster because you will be stomping on it just to hear the sound.

I have a 6 speed.I went with the airaid cai & noticed a huge difference! Maybe if you`ve got an auto, the change may not be as noticable, but mine is night & day! Good luck

Disagree!!!!!!!!!!!
This is what I thought before I put on an Airaid CAI. Huge difference in HP. Very noticible, and gave me 6th gear back with 33 inch tires.

This may be true on some engines, but the CAI woke this puppy up. I added the Jet chip and exhaust later and only noticed smaller gains on each of those.

Your story sounds like mine! I got the bigger tires knowing that there would be a difference, but after fighting to keep this vehicle going exactly 70 miles and hour with the 6th gear, I need to change something.

I am going to let the credit card cool down and re-solidify and see what you folks have to say for a while.

I purchased the Jet Module thinking it was the best HP for the Buck value (they claim 25Hp). Mistake on my part, hardly know the difference and waste of 250+ bucks. Maybe it does need additional mods to notice. When it arrived, seemed to be a generic Chrysler module and not Jeep specific.

My 2 cents....

the first thing i would do is find out your gearing
if you have the 3.21 or 3.73 on 32s or 33s its going to be crap...
4.10s on those size is what you should have...
just my thought.......
