Default JK grill guard over bumper?

I've been looking into upgrading the front end of my JK recently, and it seems that that many of the options are for upgrading the entire bumper.

However, I found 2 sites that list a grill guard that simply goes over the stock bumper. I'm considering this option more since it will be cheaper than getting an entirely new bumper.

Manik Grill Guard (price unknown):
streetperformance.com/part-showcase/octagon-automotive-llc/4973-2007-jeep-wrangler-jk.html

Rock Equipment Grille Guard for Jeep Wrangler JK ($220 for black)
ok4wd.com/index.php/catalog/product/rock_equipment_grille_guard_for_jeep_wrangler_jk/

Does anyone own either of these? I'd like to know of the quality and etc etc.

The Manik brand does not list a price, anyone know how much it may cost or know of a Web site selling it? TJ Manik bumpers cost around 400-500 bucks, so I bet the JK will be around the same.

I haven't seen much on grill guards on the forum, so I thought I'd post what I've found! Thanks for any feedback.

Default Its the Garage Pro Brush Guard

Got my yuppie upgrade at JCW It's actually pretty sturdy and has saved my grille several times from getting hit by branches! Plus you can use it to nudge old folks in Buick Centuries who are going too slow!

Thanks for the pics army cop! Good to hear it is performing against branches and buicks (both of which I plan on coming into contact with)... makes my decision process easier!!

Well yuppy it may be... but it will still provide protection (as army cop attests) and it will not break the bank like the other bumpers that cost $500-$1000!

Granted if I had the money I'd go with an AEV... so if I find an extra grand laying around...

Good looks and functionality at a cheap price sounds good to me anyday.

Default combo?

I wonder if this would work with the idea of mounting a winch inside the stock bumper... That would be the best of both worlds then, good front end protection plus a winch for about half the price of one of these fancy bumpers... do the stock stubby mod and you'd be rocking!

Wouldn’t happen to have some pictures of how the grill guard attaches to the front end would you?

I actually like my front bumper but would like to add something like this to protect the front fogs. It's made by Westin, I've used their products on other trucks. They're very durable.

Glad to help! I like to keep my Jeep kind of unique, there isn't another one like it around here!
