Default JK Steering weakness

One of the things I learned while building my ZJ was that one mod created a weak point and when that was covered, it created another weak point. I'm discovering the same with the JK UR. I had thought the Rubicon would only need a lift, tires and gears. Did that and now I will be adding C gussets and axle sleeves. Now, after reading some more, I'm wondering about the steering box with the 34" MTRs aired down. I put the Waggy box and KOR steering box brace on my ZJ. Is this type of support needed on the JK? I've seen the hydraulic assist kits, but they're a little pricy if not needed. What type of conditions warrant improving the strength of the steering on a JK? I run trails rated at 4 to 4.5 on a scale of 5. I do them with the ZJ with no problem. I'd like to have the same confidence in the JK.

I'd recommend going with the hydraulic assist setup myself. I have aired down 35s and we wheel solid 4 obstacles. We do have issues with steering on some gnarly stuff. I'd get the ram in a heart beat, I think people have actually broken the steering boxes in the JK. (I remember seeing that somewhere)

I am pretty sure WOL and Trailbud have both been through a few steering boxes IIRC.

With my steering box having only 3500 miles on it, does PSC or someone else offer an assist kit that can modify my steering box to feed a cylinder and supply the other needed components. I see the kits priced from $1100 to $1700. All these goodies are causing me to question why I went to a new JK when I have a built ZJ that will do most anything. All you guys on this forum are to blame. I read and then I want. I'm lucky I have a wife of 48 years that says it's only money. Then she gets something for the house that she wants, so this Jeep thing is costing me twice as much.

With the front axle rebuild, I'm over 10 grand added to a "Trail Ready" Unlimited Rubicon. Kinda hope the $ drain will slow down a bit pretty soon. After all, it's mostly a DD.

Lift kit & shocks, Gears w/labor, bumpers, winch, tires & wheels, 3M protective film, Sleeves & gussets, Surerchip, engine skid, rock rails etc. Would have been about the same for 37" tires, but we didn't want it that much higher. It might be more than necessary, but we don't want something broken on the trail.

Is the PSC kit my only option to get a more reliable steering setup? Do I really need it for 34" tires?

Do a google search for the "Redneck Ram".

That Redneck Ram kit looks like what I would need. Less power than the PSC, but much more reasonably priced. I can probably drill and tap my box and be setup for under $300.

Thanks
