Default JKU Tow Conversion

Has anyone converted the JKU to increase the tow capacity? Quick search led me to simply other threads wondering why the low towing capacity. Wondering if anyone has thrown in a V8 with a transmission cooler and maybe even converted the rear to spring.

Maybe contact AEV since they offer the wrangler with the Hemi. See if they have a increased towing capacity.

Yea, gonna jump on their forum and search for some insight. Mainly wondering if anyone has done any garage builds on their JK to be able to tow their trail heep. I know the JK's frame and wheel base is enough. I'd throw down a bet it's the weak sauce tranny (in respect to towing another rig). Thanks!

I think he is referring to leaf springs instead of coil springs.

All JK Jeeps have coils. I have yet to hear of anyone doing a leaf spring conversion for it.

There are Heavy Duty coils you can use to increase capacity.

Several guys have done Hemi swaps in their garage.

Tranny coolers are standard on Hemi swap kits ad well.

What a bummer; why would you want to do that if even possible? As was said, you can put heavier coil springs in or add air bags.

Default Jeep Towing Guide

There is a very good Jeep Towing Guide thread on this forum. It does answer a lot of questions about Jeep towing capacities and capabilities.
