Hes hoping to get it all fixed by Thursday/Friday night
I have a very similar problem as well. In my case the bigger the hole the badder the wobble at around 15mph. Its also easier to provoke during a turn. Highway driving is all good. Can go 70mph no wobble and no vibes. Feels very stable. I would imagine that things might get very scary if I hit a hole unexpectantly at that speed

no more wobbles for me, theres a good chance my old tire are un balanced and the is next to no tread left on them so now im thinking that when i hit the bump in the turn its possible that i could have skipped and thats what got thisng shaking, with the new tires i havent been able to recreate the wobble, i even went and hit the same exact spot i did on monday that started all of this for me.

so for me the DW was a tire issue, and possibly the rear axle being centered and the front was not.

So could a unbalanced tire be the culprit of wobble after a bump even if it doesn't shimmy during highway driving?

This doesn't make sense to me, but is this possible. I always understood that a shimmy during highway driving is a good indicator of unbalanced tires. Someone please educate me

all i know is that after having the guys at NTB give everything a once over and driving it around tonight on a very bumpy and twisty back road at about 45-50 mph, it never let loose from me once, where as in the past before my lift and new tires, in my stock config with my old tires im almost 100% sure i would have gotten a wobble of two somewhere but now, everything seems to be back to normal.

Default Death Wobble

this thread looks like it has been abandoned for some time, but i was glad to find it today. this weekend was my first experience with the wobbles. i was going 80ish on I-40 when it hit and i almost lost control. there was no recovering, i had to merge thru traffic and slow down to 10-15 to get the wobble to stop. i bought it new and have been driving it 2.5 years and never had this happen. QUESTION: if my tires are very worn (and they are) could a skip cause this type results?

yes thats a possibility, mine started when my tires were very worn, how many miles are on it and is it lifted. i just had all my ball joints replaced b/c they were all bad, steering stabilizer was blown and the u joints were replaced as well. i no longer have issues with DW.

ball joints tend to go at 15k i had upwards of 32k on mine but no problems now that everything has been replaced. if ur still under warenty everything should be covered, un fortunately my warenty had already run out so me and my wallet arnt talking to each other right now

Funny to see this old thread come back to life. I haven't had a since incident of mild steering wobble OR death wobble since I installed my dual stabilizer setup (which I'm now trying to sell because of money issues).

In any case since I created it I've tried EVERYTHING except correcting my terrible caster. Upper adjustable ctrl. arms are next on my list....

I asked the dealership to check my balls joints while they had the jeep up on the lift replacing the pinion seal and when I asked them they said everything was fine...but from the inflection in the guy's voice it sounds like they didn't check shit.

How did you go about getting them replaced under warranty?

i didnt get min replaced under warranty. i had rear ended a guy who stoped short in front of me while they were checking everything over they told me nothing happened to anything but my bumper but they said everything was really loose and needed to be replaced. i knew there was to much play any way. plus other things you could tell needed to be replaced

I have had death wobble three times. Once when my trackbar came loose, once when my caster was off, and another time when I set my toe way to far in. The death wobble would come on the left side as people are saying and mostly when hitting bumps. From fixing my own jeep and from doing my own alignment, I have found that true death wobble, is usually caused by uneven caster if you have adjustable control arms, and they weren't set correctly, loose track bar, or too much toe in. True death wobble scares the crap out of you and is definitely not the same as a tire wobbling from being out of balance.

Default Four Wheel Alignment?!?

No bottom line results yet, but it seemed to behave on the drive home. I had my normal bit of bump steer (I need a better steering stabilizer) but around 33-36mph I let the wheel do what it wanted and there wasn't any wobbling.
If they charged you for a "four wheel alignment" you got ripped off... Ask them what exactly they adjusted in the rear... I'd be interested to hear them explain that one. There are no alignment adjustments that can be made on the rear axle..

I hear you though brother, I've owned a 2007 JK 2dr since new, its a Rubi with 4" lift and 37's - and I've battled Wobble the whole time I've owned it. Right around 40 MPH... I've literally tried Everything and the best luck I had was only temporary.. I literally don't even drive it any more which is sad. My wife hates it, because it takes up space and costs money, but I just can't bring myself to sell it. She has already made it clear if I do I will not be getting another one... :(
