Default Just wondering....

Great site, tons of information! Just wondering what the death wobble rate is for Jk's. Is it pretty common or scarce? The reason I'm asking is because I've had a '98 XJ 3.5 " RE lift.....DEATH WOBBLE , '01 WJ 3.5" OME lift.....DEATH WOBBLE! Even my '07 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab completely stock decided to join in on the fun.....DEATH WOBBLE . I currently have '08 JKU Rubicon which I plan on running a 2.5" lift (not sure which one yet) and 35's. Not that this is going to change my mind on lifting it or anything but just curious.

Again, GREAT SITE and I'd appreciate any and all comments!

I have the 2.5 inch teraflex coil lift on and I havent had any problems with the death woble and havent heard of many people or none at all that have had it when I was looking into the lift. As long as you do everything right and tighten it all tight you should be fine. I had them do an alignment after I put it on (Didnt really need it) but I had them do it with the oil change. I just had them double check the bolts and retighten them.

Occasional cases of DW, but not super common. Just make certain to loosen all control arm and trackbar bolts before lifting, then retorque all after lifting with full weight of Jeep on ground. Might also be a good idea to pull trackbar bolts and inspect the holes for any signs of unusual wear (ovaling out).

Not very common at all on stock JK's. But once you start lifting, the number rises simply because there are so many variables that get thrown into the mix. If you haven't read through Planmans big DW diagnosis thread, that would be a great place to get some information on common causes and what to look for. But as the guys above said, it is generally install related, so just check and re-check.

I'll sure give that a try Mark. Good info.
As for the lift I'm kinda leaning towards the Teraflex 2.5" coil lift, I haven't heard (or read) of anything bad about them.
