well, if you're looking to pep up power, you might want to save your money. but, if you're looking for a nice reusable filter, it works well for that. of course, that's just my opinion.

Just buy the drop in filter. Get the majority of the performance benefit at a fraction of the cost.

I've put a k&n intake on every vehicle i've owned, your not going to notice really any power gains but it does sound mean above 3500 rpms. Pair it with an exhaust and it will save you a little bit on gas.

I have had no problems with mine. I hit a lot of water. Most trails here cross a stream of some sort

X2. K&N drop in filter. Will help avoid dirt and water ingestion and still give you a slight performance increase. Not to mention you could add a snorkel down the road and still use it if you wanted to

I've heard of problems with the oil from the filter screwing up some component?

this is the only thing keeping me from buying this filter.
how prevalent is this problem? anybody experiencing this?

When you clean the filter and Re-oil it, make sure to let it fully dry. There are a ton of videos on youtube on how to do it right
