I know Kenny with River Raider has a K&N filter in his JK with his river raider snorkel. He would be your best bet.

If by "give a little something to the engine" you mean power, the answer is know. Chances are you won't notice it at all, you might see an increase in gas mileage though.

So other than millege is their any other benefit? sound maybe? longer engine life? less stress on engine?

I noticed a minimal gain in MPG with the drop in filter. If you're going with a high flow intake and exhaust in the long run, don't waste your time/money on the drop in. Just upgrade to what you want.

Can't say I've noticed anything outside of a possible mpg gain, but it's probably minimal. Down the road I'll have a snorkel as well and so opted against the CAI.

I changed my OEM filter for a K&N, and yes, you might notice a difference. Certainly the intake whistle is more noticeable with the K&N. :-)

The OEMs certainly last longer, but for the first few months, I expect the K&N and OEM will be close. The OEM just lasts a lot longer. This is why I bought TWO K&N filters. I swap 'em and clean 'em every few months.
