K&N FIPK- installed.
i was biased to the K&N since I put one on the wife's Tahoe and liked it. So...
removal of the facorty stuff was simple and fast... assembly of the K&N was easy enough... good instructions..
so far, i am seeing my highway fuel mileage up from 16.5 high to 19.5 as a high with highway speeds at 60-65mph.. this includes driving a little at 25-35 in town. and with one day of driving both city and highway and toying with the computer... which we all know to be designed by some crack-smokin programmers.
power seems good. what i mean is, there is a hill right outside town that i always have to add throttle in order to maintain speed, and usually results in the tranny downshifting. today... no down shift. i made it a point NOT to add throttle... and it slowed by 1mph. not bad.
also, i have previously found that the JK required constant attention to travel the same speed over flat ground. not today. no trouble.
the oddest finding is that when driven easily, like my wife tends to drive, it is almost unnoticed. driven a little more aggressively, it is noticable... but when pushed hard.. this thing IS LOUD! i floored it and the resonation from the intake was enough to vibrate the interior. i felt it in the dash, steeringwheel and seat.
i like it.
oh... and there is a whistle... but i only noticed it when passing by some parked cars beside the street last nigh and it was not loud at all.

I didn't think the FIPK was out..just the series 63 and 77. Series 57 are the FIPK units.
Which one did you install?
I'm waiting for the FIPK myself..which is why I haven't installed any of the other many units out there.

The Aircharger has a plastic intake tube and the FIPK has an aluminum intake tube. They both show just about the same horsepower gain so I'm wondering why they made two different ones?
Big question is does it produce a high pitched whistle?

well, i dont know what the difference could be. the one in the Tahoe was advertised as a FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit)... same construction and design.
i have the 63 series, black plastic. I didnt want the aluminum. The 63 has the same heat shield and such. according to the literature i have seen, they made two to cover those who want that "polished-ricer" look. (my words.
)
anyway.
there is a whistle but it isnt really noticable unless driving right past a building or car a few feet away while going about 20 mph with part throttle. anything beyond or before it and it doesnt whistle.
no changes to the computer. it will probably be november before i have enough money to buy a Jet chip. a friend has convinced me to go that route, and it seems good. i have an aftermarket muffler i'll be installing in a few months and we'll see how it works out as a package.
