Thumbs down Kargo Master Congo Cage Rusting!

Yikes! When I put this thing together, I did my best to (over) seal the seams with silicon but after a long 5 days of rain here in Bailey, the rust has cometh.

I plan to take it back apart and do some sanding and painting inside and attempt to re-seal. I bought neoprene washers for the bolts so I hope that will help with the bolts.

Anyone else go through this and have a better idea?

As always, thanks for any comments.

I just noticed mine's rusting too. I'm just stupid. I didn't put silicone on the front u-bar sections cause KM is shipping me a new part. I've only had it on the Jeep for 2-3 weeks and didn't think it would rust yet. Boy, was I wrong. How did the de-rusting go? Have you had any problems with worn areas on top of the bars rusting?

x 3 here. I have been round and round with the dealer I went through and KM on this. The answer I got was that there was a "batch" of racks that didn't go through the corrosion process correctly..... I also noticed #2 that my rack does not clear my soft top bows. Finnally #3 the "prop rods" they provide do not hold the rack up high enough for me to lower the soft top. WTF! Now here is the kicker. They knew of these problems and stillsent this crap out. There is supposed to be a fix for the clearance issues. But I haven't seen anything from them yet. I'm NOT impressed. I have not been able to get the rust stains off of my soft top yet.
Anyone else have any issues?

Kargo Master Congo Cage Rusting!

And THAT is precisely why I didn't buy one. Went with the Garvin instea after a couple reads here and on another forum. IFFFFFFFffff you wann go through all the hassle of the silicone crap and having to RE-do it every couple of years then by all means...go for it. I had previously posted on here about a guy I met who once (briefly) worked for them and flat out told me "Great company to work for...but they make shitty stuff"

I have been round and round with the dealer I went through and KM on this. The answer I got was that there was a "batch" of racks that didn't go through the corrosion process correctly.....
Sorry to tell you but that aint only one or two batches according to the dude I talked to: they have to skate to be competative. Its NOT a bad product per-se but requires alot more maintence then some of the other racks.....

Sorry this has happened to y'all. Best I can suggust is sand down them rusty spots and coat everything with POR15 or at least some decent primer and paint.
