My '09 latches made a world of difference. No movement whatsoever now. Best $7 I've spent in a long time.

x-whatever on removing the hood spring. Has not happened since and I frequently drive through eastern colorado and nebraska where it's always windy

I guess what I was thinking for problems was with engine cooling. Perhaps I'm over thinking the situation, but perhaps the spring keeps just enough pressure so that the hood is slightly lifted and allows for a pass-through "open-air" type scenario.

... think about opening a window in an other-wise closed room. Not much air breathing in. However, open the door to the room and more air enters through the window.

Well, whatever. No more hood-lift while driving down the highway and that makes me happy!

The spring removal has also worked for me.

Most of the '09s I've seen still have the old style latches. The new style latches look the same except they're a darker black. Its a new compound that doesn't stretch like the older ones. They're noticeably harder to clamp, but its not an issue at all though.
