Default KM2 Size question

Okay, so the tax returns just hit my account this morning and are ready to be spent; no need to mess up my cash flow

And I plan to do wheels/tires for my rig. I have an auto w/ 3.73, so I am limiting myself to 33" tires. I am looking at the 285/70/17 but I also see the 305/65/17. I know the4 285 is a skinnier tire while the 305 is wider and slightly shorter. But why does it cost significantly more? I mean, the 35/12.50/17 is even cheaper. Is the cost for the wider tire worth the money over the 285?

I would love the 35s and they are very tempting, but I know my limits and I am trying to restrain myself.

They probably cost according to how they sell. I don't know just a thought. I don't blame you for wanting to go with 33"s with the auto. I have 4.10's w/35"S and I can't WAIT to get 5.13's. But at $1000-$1400 it's a stretch. But.... I have to say, I wouldn't have done it any different. I thought about going with 33"s but now since going bigger all the compliments I receive with my 35"s I'm so lOVING iT!!! Frustration with gas mileage, having only 3 gears... It's all worth it for the big smile you'll have when you walk away from it constantly looking backwards.

The LT sized tires tend to be less expensive than the P metric versions...

So - getting the 35x12.5/17's would get you a lot more off road capability: Extra flotation from the wider and longer foot print, typically deeper lugged treads, a tougher construction (LT tires are assumed to be tougher than Passenger / P-Metric Tires...).

I at least would get the less expensive, better performing tires, before I'd get the more expensive poorer performing tires....but that's just me.

Smiles per mile counts too.
