I've had 5 sets of Toyo's. 4 MT's and 1 AT and would recommend then to anyone. Currently have 35x12.5x18's on my JK and they are quiet and ride great.

Have you considered other tires or are you stuck with these two. Why not look at mtr With Kevlar. You said you herd that the km2s get sidewall rips. The mtrs are smooth and good offroading. A lot of people have them that I know. I driven around with the tires and liked them a lot. I have the baja claws witch are loud and wear Very easy but awesome off road. I say look at more options

I would go nitto or mtr Kevlar. Have ran both in the rocky mountains no sidewall issues. Have nittos on both super duty and jeep. Good for miles also.

I vote KM2's but I haven't personally run the toyos. I have KM2's now in 35s and they are great for a DD/weekend warrior. quiet, wearing good and grip well on the trail. I dont think you can go wrong with either though, like everyone else said..the numbers speak for themselves. Toyos are heavy!

Same as everyone else, heard that Toyo's were heavy, but have always heard about great off-road performance.
It's important to note that the price tag of efficiency on heavier tires comes at roll out and speeds over 70mph. Once they're rolling it doesn't take a whole lot of energy to keep them rolling as anyone who has rolled a tire knows. The bigger issue is wear on brakes, ride comfort, lifting them and doing simple chores like tire rotation. If you do a lot of stop and go driving, it makes sense to look for a lighter tire. If the majority of your driving is on the highway it makes little difference.
