Default Knock under the drivers side

Hey guys,

I added 1.5 inch spacers to my front end to level it out and since then have noticed a knock/vibe underneath my feet driving at about 60 mph to 65, and if I go faster it goes away. I had a wobble in the steering wheel before hand, but pretty sure thats due to my tires being out of balance. Could these go hand in hand with wheels being out of balance? Or is my front driveshaft shot? we did have to remove the front ds to get my front end back together, but I checked and everything is tight and looks normal underneath. I am at a loss, any ideas appreciated. Next step will be pulling the front driveshaft to see what happens. I have stock shafts, 35s with a TF 2.5 Coil lift w/ front adj lower control arms. Thanks guys.

Mike

Hey Mike

First I would get your tires balanced, see if this improves the drivablility.

If the knock is still there, look at your front Driveshaft U-joint maybe on the way out. Do you hear any squeaking at lower speeds? Check your U-joint on the driveshaft for any blobs of grease or rust is a sign it's going. It's a sealed unit and if it's toast you need an entire new driveshaft..can't change out the front driveshaft u-joint. If you don't have drive-train warranty look aftermarket for a front Driveshaft if it's your front driveshaft u-joint.

Also, did you adjust your control arms to get your caster higher again after the spacers???

Also, a few suggestions but you probably did this...

After you added the coils spacer, Did you loosen up your control arms and tighten up on the ground?

Also, does your Lower CA's have greasable joints? My TF Lower's started to knock a little so I shot some grease in the joints and loosened both bolts to the controls arms and bounced the JK for a while and then retorqued and the knock was gone.

hey, got a appt to get them roadforced on wed so hopefully this is all stemming from wheel balance. no squeeking at low speeds, just the knock at about 60-65, faster than that its not there. I left my control arms at the same I had them from before, was about 23'' eye to eye. I may lengthen them but won't that increase possible vibes? It could be the control arms knocking, I haven't greased them in a while because my grease gun busted and it totally crossed my mind, maybe thats what it could be. The u joint appears to be fine, should I be able turn it slightly with the jeep off? thanks for the input
