Default leaking shocks ????

Hey guys,

in 2007, I installed 4 Rubicon Express shocks and not even 2 years after, they all started leaking. Last May I bought 4 Rough Country 2.5 and I just noticed that the rear shocks are already dripping oil and the other 2 are showing signs....

Anybody else have problems with leaking shocks? Any fix? Would a rear adj track bar solve the problem for the rear leaking shocks??

JL

New shocks would solve the problem of leaky shocks.

One question I have, how much travel is left in the shocks just sitting still. Are they bottoming or should I say topping out on bumps. My bilsteins in the rear did this cause they were too short. To check, unbolt your rear shock from bottom and report back with how much you have extending down after unbolting.

Are your shocks twin tube or monotube? Twin tube's are thick, and even with a leak they will still hold up pretty well for a while. Monotubes I know are great for on road and racing, but I heard from somewhere they lack the strength to handle rock crawling and extreme-weight stress.

I would just get new shocks, either Pro Comp twin tubes or Teraflex 9550 twin tubes. Pro Comp has the life time warranty, so if this happens again you are free of charge of replacement. With Teraflex, I don't know what their warranty is but they have great customer service and their products are at the top of industry standards.

they are monotubes. The life time warranty is good for you guys across the border but not really for us Canucks. When my RE shocks were leaking, Rubicon Express rep told me to buy 4 new ones from them and to ship the old ones on my dime so that they can inspect them and after that they ''might'' refund my money. It would have cost me more then to just buy new ones, so I bought 4 RC 2.2 but after only 6 months of mild abuse, they are leaking too...

Default Same problem

I had the 2.5 RC coils and the 2.2 shocks. After one trip to Rausch Creek running the easy trails and approximately 3000 miles my left rear shock is blown. I changed springs and now trying to figure out what shocks to use. No your not the only one. Kinda mad that they couldnt even last a year.

Same here with the Rc shocks, bought my 2.5'' kit in june, already had 2 shocks that leaked, they sent me new ones, but its sucks to have to change broken parts on a 5 months old lift !!!!!!! :(

And my rear coils are compressed ... IMHO Rc 2.5'' progressive lift really has problems with quality !!!!!!

I talked to Ben Richarson at Rough Country last week and they are sending me new shocks. Maybe we got a bad batch or there's a real problem with them

RC should chime in.....
