I would be more concerned if you are doing what your avatar suggests you are doing. Gas fumes from an open tank can be dangerous!

I have left mine off before also..and thrown no code....

Most vehicles and I would assume our JK's would fall in this do not do the test all the time.

There are several conditions they must be present for the computer to run the test. I don't have the exact numbers with me at the moment but you will get the idea.

The engine has to be at a cold start, The engine has to have sat off for so many hours. The fuel tank has to be between 1/4 and 7/8 of a tank. The outside air temp has to be within a certain range. Finally the engine RPM has to be below a certain point.

An article I read on this even went on to say if you lived in a really hot or really cold climate your vehicle might never run this test. I wouldn't worry unless the CEL is on.

I would not worry. When the computer runs a check there is also such a thing as too good. It wants it to the leak down within a certain range. If it is too short you have a leak. If it takes too long it will thrown the code for EVAP malfunction. The only problem I have heard of yet from people relocating it is a leak. If you hooked the houses up backwards it will also trigger a EVAP malfunction code.

My gas cap message has come on maybe 3 times over the last 2 years....once I turned the vehicle off it clears itself.....and since I have the factory locking cap plus the Mopar door, I have always replaced it......another stupid code is the change oil/service vehicle message....had that one come 100 kms after I changed the oil too...it has happened only twice....
