lenghten end links

Default lenghten end links

Anyone lengthened their sway bar end links (when not included in lift). Figure I could move the rears to the frt and then chop the frts, add a sleeve, weld back and install on the rear.

This doesnt seem like a bad idea. 0 cost with scraps laying around. Yes they would be stiffer but do SB end links flex by design?

should work great. They do endure some stress but if you know how to weld you should be fine. I would keep the bushings cool when welding tho. Just weld a sold stock like the stock ones are made.

cool. Yes I am competent. I just searched and found no 1 had done this (that I could find). Was wondering if there was a reason. Every1 just says buy 'em...but why when it would be so easy to mod the exisitng.

I reckon I post pics when done for the next guy

I would LOVE a write up for this. Plus General information on why, things to keep in mind for this mod etc, for the new guys. This sounds like a PERFECT DIY Project! Let me know if you do it.

The "why" is cause I am installing a 2" Rancho Sport (hopefully this weekend) to run 305/70r17 KM2s (all order - lift should be here today...thanks Eric from OffRoad Elements) & it does not include end links figuring they are not totally necessary or to kep cost down. I figure I can get the stock position back for the SBs myself vs the min $50 for aftermarket or the hassle of craigslist. Prob will start designing disconnects while at it.

Maybe it wont be necessary when the kit is installed, maybe it is but I have been partial trained partial self taught to fab so why not.

Plus there is just pride in my stuff having some of my inspiration on it (Same reason I am gonna try my head at bumpers)

All you need to do is simply cut the links in two and insert the cut ends into a section of tube and weld the ends. Pretty simple thing to do if you can weld.

i made my own and it was as simple as everyone says... Ive also seen some drilled and tapped or just tapped with threaded rod holding them together and jam nuts to lock them.
