Level the front?
I was thinking about leveling out my Rubicon. I am not planning on getting bigger tires or putting on a full on suspension system (for now), but maybe use a spacer. Will leveling the front really make that much of a difference, other than to the eye? I also plan on putting on some better shocks and a better steering stabilizer (OME.) Any detrimental effects?
Hi Poor Dad. I just did what you are wanting to do last week . My 08 wrangler measured 1 1/2 inches low from the center of the front flare to the ground compared to the rear. I ordered a pair of 1 3/4'' front spring spacers. These mount between the upper spring and the frame pocket. It took 15 minutes per side to install, only 2 bolts per side to remove. Under 2 inch lift won't affect your alignment and standard length shocks still function fine. Mine cost $47.00 including shipping. I left the original spring pads out and that gave me a total lift of 1 7/16''. The jeep looks perfectly level now.... I REALLY like the end result.
After installing my AEV front bumper, I was sitting low in the front due to the added weight. Ordered Skyjacker 3/4" spacers from Quad. Took about 2 hours to install, and the JK sits level now. Cost was around $40.00 including shipping.
Some have posted about larger spacers, but I havn't seen anything larger except for the 2" BB which consists of front and rear spring spacers and larger bumpstops in a kit with a price of about $239.00.

All this talk about levelling in many threads. Why? Seems like a lot of emphasis put into a geometry which changes everytime you do or don't carry a load in the rear.
For those who occasionally tow a trailer this would also include tongue weight.
I just can't see any need to spend time or money on a constant variable

Mostly because I like the way it looks. Normally, I would not just do a mod for looks, but this would also give me a little bit (a very little bit) more clearance in the front. It is also a cheap mod that I can do myself to build up my confidence in my wrenching ability. If I decide I dont like it, it can be easily removed. I dont tow anything or carry heavy weights around, so the front will always be raked. Yes, I know the fuel effiency will be lessened. Thats my reason. Thanks for asking!
Skyjacker makes 3/4 inch spacers for the front of a JK. Just measure the front and rear fenders at the middle of the tire to see how much rake you have. I would think the 3/4 inch spacers would be enough to do the trick. http://www.quadratec.com/products/16117_1002.htm

The JK seems to come from the factory with a small amount of rake. This most likely due to the fact that some will load up the cargo area which will even it out. However I do not believe many load up and keep that load for any length of time. As for towing. Yes it's true that many tow, however again this is normally not a 365 venture. In addition some replace the front bumper with an aftermarket which add to an increase in weight up front, and for that reason would like to level it out. As for a constant veriable thing, I would have to believe it's more constant than veriable. For that reason many like to sit level during the constant. In addition with any vehicle sitting slightly lower in the front, more stress is moved forward causing more wear on the front brakes among a few other things.
I have about 2 1/2 inches of rake on mine since I put the LOD signature stubby and my winch, I am waiting on my LOD signature rear to arrive next week then I can see how much of a difference it will be... then I have to decide wehther to spacer the front or just get a lift kit??? If I go with a lift kit(Terflex 3") I will most likely still need the spacer up front, correct???
