Default Leveling question

Stock 08 Sahara unlimited

Added daystar 1 3/4 spacers this weekend to try to level out the rake. Its almost perfect but I wonder if the front is a bit too high now. Thinking it might settle a bit but probably not much more after a day of driving.

I've only found reference to one other person doing fronts only....anyone else? I'm thinking I might need to add something small to the rear.

I don't have plans for a bumper or larger tires other than perhaps switching for some Rubicon stock rubber.

I see daystar has a .75 rear....but I don't want to chase this front to rear to front again :-).

If it's almost perfect and you go with the .75 rear, you will be back to your starting point. Spacers don't settle much but they do a little. Give it a few weeks and then measure and see where you are at.

I'm running the same thing you are. My measurements indicated that I needed exactly 1.5" to perfectly level mine out (I'd swear that Canadian JK's come with the 'dragster package'). Problem is I can't get exactly 1.5" without spending CDN$300 here! So I installed the Daystar 1.75 and yes it looked a little high. I then removed the stock spacer and that gave me about 1.25".....which to me is just a tad low....yes I am anal!!! I was going to originally get the Daystar 'pucks' shaved 1/4" before installing them but I never did fearing that I'd screw them up. Might still try that one day and re-install the factory spacers.

Now that it's settled a bit however and I'm not runnning the (heavier) hard top, I'm seriously considering re-installing the OEM spacers anyway. My advice is give it some time, take a height measurement at the front bumper and see if it settles (it likely will) and then re-evaluate the situation.

If you're going to the JK Jam in Trenton on the weekend of the 20th, you'll see what mine looks like.

Julian...I'm in Canada too. Did you find that taking the rubber spacers out caused any issues? They look like the locate the spring better than the big flat of the daystar spacer. I think actually it looks ok now, but am wondering what it will be like with the hard top back on and the extra weight.

How difficult are the 1 3/4" front daystar spacers to install? I've never done any mechnical work involving suspensions....any write ups? something I can do in a few hours??

Its really easy. You just need basic tools, a good set of jack stands (you can technically do it with one, safer with two), and a floor jack.

yea I'm in the USAF and I can take it to the auto shop and work on it there with pro lifts...do they come with detailed, understandable directions?

is daystar what most people recommend?

as was said, very easy.

I could do it in an hour now that I have done it once.

Jack front significantly and jack stand at frame on both sides clear of front suspension.

Remove front wheels

sway bar link bolt removed

Lower shock bolt removed (both same size 18mm)

Let suspension sag enough to work spring loose.

Put spacer on bump stop post

Work spring back in

Do other side (leave both sagged while doing it gives more room to work springs in and out)

Then jack suspension up to replace bolts on both sides

Re torque.

Replace wheels

I've had a set in my garage for about three weeks. I attempted to put them on myself one day. Don't get me wrong, it looked fairly straightforward, but I felt that it was a two person job (for me, I mean).
