Default Lift help and suggestions

First off long time lurker and first time poster. I have a 2008 Rubi 4 door (bought new in Oct of 2009). In the first couple of weeks I added a Teraflex BB 2.5 lift and Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/75R/16 (OD 33.27) mounted on Pro Comp with 4.5 back spacing.

For a few reasons I am not happy with the lift.
(I wanted to level it out and I thought the BB would do this but it didn’t. It still has the factory look just a little higher.)

I want to keep the tire/wheel combo but I wanted to change out the lift. I don’t have a problem with doing a top quality lift and doing it right the second time around. Even though I don’t have a ton of confidence in TF now because of the above issue and them telling me before the install the jeep would sit level everyone on the fourm seams to really like their lifts.

What I am thinking of is the 3” with full flex arms http://www.teraflex.biz/products/jk-...ut-shocks.html part number 1156300

A couple of questions.
1: Would this look bad with the 33’s I have?
2: Could I use the shocks that came with the BB 2.5?
3: Would there be a better choice in lift for me?

I don’t plan on adding a winch or a real heavy bumper, maybe a stubbie and prerunner hoops.
I don’t think that I will be getting to crazy into rock crawling just some off-road use in the AZ desert. This is my daily ride and some days for work I put 200 miles on and others I may only put 5.

Any help of suggestions would be appreciated.

Teraflex BB 2.5 lift = 2.5"

TeraFlex 3" coil lift = 4-5" (depending on extra weight on vehicle. How much lift will a 4door with no added weight get?)

Nitto Terra Grapplers 295/75R/16 (OD 33.27) = actual height of ?
(I ran the same tires. My 'actual' height on the vehicle at normal load/inflation was right at 32")

There will be a very noticeable gap in the fender wells, but it's a big enough tire to not look too bad until you wear them out and go bigger.

If you want to use the shocks from the 2.5"BB, maybe just add the extensions?

See that is what is confussing me about lifts now. I sure don't think I got 2.5" from the BB. Maybe in the back but not in the front.
I did read that the 3" might give 4-5". Is there a lift that actually lifts the ammount that is stated?

I just measuered mine and they are closer to 32". That's funny because Nitto's site says that they measure 33.27".

I just don't understand why companies publish one thing and you get something else.
Thats like paying for a 3,200 sq ft house and it being 2,500.

I am not a fan of rake so I understand your dissatisfaction with your current lift kit, but TF does make quality products.

In the nomenclature of many lift kit manufacturers, a 2.5" lift implies 3" in the front and 2" in the back so you get a 2.5" average. However, in looking at pics of the TF BB spacers it appears they are both ~2.5" high, so it may not apply to BB. The factory rake is ~1.25-1.5".

If your concern is appearance, there are a lot of pics of various lift heights in the 33" Show Off thread in the Show and Tell FAQ section which will give you an idea of both the amount of lift and how the 33s look.

I wouldn't say that I am so concerned with just the appearance but if I were to sink another 2-2.5k into the lift and I still had the rake like the factory I would be a little upset .

As for the TF 3'' that I am thinking of I may not use all of the suspension now but I would not want to swap it out again when I have more time for wheeln.

Anyone suggest another quality lift that will get me an even 3-4" of lift that I wont feel like swapping out in a year or two?
And if I did go up to 4" and got new tires would I need to mod the driveline?

TF 2.5 'coil'
OME HD (check the long travel kit at northridge if you want a 'complete' kit)

And if I did go up to 4" and got new tires would I need to mod the driveline?
Check this one in the suspension faq's:
Q: What are all the components that I will need with a 4" lift?

Here is a shot of mine with the OME lift and your tires.

OME HD front / OME MD rear
295/75/16 terra grapplers
The HD's gave me 3.25" up front with the heavy bumper/winch. The MD's with no added weight in back put me level. (the HD's have not settled, the MD's drooped about 1/4", added spacers to re-level. I should have gone HD's at both ends...)

Here are a couple of pic's this is with the Nitto's and the 2.5" BB from TF. Not the best angles to see what I mean about the rake.

Just order the TF 2.5 coils for up frt, keep your shocks w/ext and leave the bb in the rear. If your not gonna add any weight up front. JKRocker added 3in coils on the frt , but he has a heavy bump/winch combo, sets pefectly level. Prolly same for you with the 2.5 coils up front.

That sounds good also and I thought about that but TF said the BB is 2.5" in the front so I didn't think adding a 2.5" coil would really change anything.

I already have the TF shocks (No ext) that came with the BB. They look almost compressed now thats why I was trying to figure out if they would be good with the 3" TF lift.
