Default Lift Installation Prices?

I was looking to purchase and have installed the Teraflex 2.5' Lift but was curious as to how much I should expect to spend to get one installed.

A local shop quotes me $400 and I wasn't sure if that was a reasonable amount or way too high? I have never tackled anything of this magnitude on a truck/SUV before, so I didn't want to risk screwing up my DD.

Any thoughts? Thanks

That's what most shops will charge. Just try to do it on your own. You will save money and it really isn't that hard. I installed my lift on my wrangler and found it it is fairly easy. Look up write-ups to help you out.

Do it yourself. I am willing to be there is at least one person on the forum that is in your neck of the woods that will at least loan the tools needed if not a helping hand for a lot less than $400 (beer and pizza?).

IMHO, the experience you gain and the knowledge of how your suspension goes together and works will be worth it. I did mine about a week ago. I hadn't done any automotive work in a good 11-12 years and it wasn't that bad. It took me about 7 hours by myself. I would do it all over again too.

If you don't have a garage lift, it's a pain to do. Some parts do not fit 100% - close, but not without some presidential engineering. You also need all the proper tools. A lot of guys do it themselfs, however, if you are not sure about your abilities, let a shop do it.
So, I got a quote from my local shop of 500 bucks, incl. adjustable front track bar, new control arms for a 3.5" RC lift kit.

No need for a garage lift to put in the teraflex lift kit. Borrow a hydraulic jack and some jack stands, that's all most of us have used. Air tools are handy but not a requirement. Like others have said, the knowledge you gain about how your lift goes on will serve you well on the trail if you ever need to fix or adjust something.

The shop I went to charged $175 plus $50 for an alignment but I called around and prices varied widely from $500 to $225. Just make sure you call around and get several quotes. If I had the tools I probably could have done it myself.

Do it yourself. If you don't have tools use the $400 to buy some that you will need anyway and borrow others.

With the help of another forum member I just installed a EVO Enforcer lift, EVO draglink flip kit and a new driveshaft. I had never done anything like this to any vehicle...other than stuff like installing wipers and putting gas in it.

Take your time and follow the instructions/writeups on the forum. You will learn a ton about your JK and have a good sense of accomplishment when you are finished.

I would also recommend doing it yourself. The instructions that come with the lift are well written and there is plenty of help on this site. If you do decide to let a shop do it, get several quotes. Good luck!
