Default Lift Installation Question

I've got all the parts I need to get what I'm looking for, my question is around the best setup with regards to jacks and jack stands for installing the lift. Have done brake jobs and most types of wrenching in the engine bay but never worked on the suspension - what's the best method and equipment for a DIY in your garage lift install?
Appreciate the help!

"Best" would be a real lift that's how I did mine made it a lot easier leverage wise and visibility. If on the ground is your choice your going to need a jack for the axle to rest on and jack stands for the frame. Probably two jacks and 4 stands would be best bet

Get a floor jack and 4 jack stands and you will be set. You could do it with only 2 but I found it much easier to just get the entire rig up in the air. Check out Harbor Freight for some great deals.

Like pj said. I did mine with 2 jack stands under the frame and a floor jack for the axle. Did front first and then rear so 2 jack stands were enough.

Default Thanks!

Great, thanks everyone for the responses - Harbor Freight is my favorite place and within 5 minutes from the house so looks like another trip is in order

Have good air tools? If so those are an added bonus.

A good torque wrench to torque all of the CA and track bar bolts to 125 ft-lbs once it's back on the ground. I also found a second jack helpful to keep the front axle level during raising and lowering.

ID:	571007If your kit includes an adjustable track bar and you plan to re-center your axles, I used a laser level against the side of the crash bar for the front and a flat, repeatable spot in the rear (can't remember which) and marked the point on the axles with a piece of tape and a sharpie before install. This gave me the factory center point which made it very easy to re-center after the install.

Harbor Freight is great. Get the floor jack with the tallest lift height you can find. The 2-ton low profile for $140ish seems to be popular, if you can afford it. And go for some taller/beefier stands than the basic 3-tons. The 6-tons stands are popular, and safer than a 3-ton cranked way up to its max height. Always be safe under a vehicle on a jack/stands!!

Default Jack Stands

Great advice - as I have an irrational fear of being crushed I've always made it a practice to put a couple of cinder blocks next to my jack stands under the car - takes 5 minutes and acts as sort of a human saving bump stop - I love Harbor Freight but my faith in overseas manufacturing quality control has been shaken by past experiences...
