Default Lift Installed...Need a answer...

Would someone know what it is...I have a 12 Unlimited Sahara ( Arctic ) edition...I just got
back from a roadtrip ( Carlisle )...I got installed a month ago a Rubicon Express RE7131RXJ kit...
After talking with installer we did NOT install the shocks that came with kit...Keeping in mind i
have the RUBICON shocks installed in my JK...When i hit a medium size bump or crack in road
when my rear tire hits it sounds like i bottom out...I know i's not that...Wouls not installing
shocks do this...I had a 2008 Unlimited JK also with same lift and was not doing that...
Anyone has any ideas possibly what's going on...

I would start with checking that all your bolts are tight. They are supposed to be checked a few times while they are new, to make sure nothing has loosened.

Did you remember to put everything together roughly hand tight, and then torque everything down under the vehicles own weight? I'm unsure of that kit, how much lift is it? I don't know a ton about all the different lifts out there but maybe you need the shocks for that lift. My guess would be the lift is making the shocks sit farther expanded out then they are designed and the clunk could be the shock not bottoming out, but actually bottoming out so to speak on the expansion stroke...its just a guess but i would say if your kit was designed to use oem shocks they should be fine, but if it normally comes with replacement shocks, i would think that is why you're getting the clunking.

Did the kit come with bumpstops? It kind of sounds like you're hitting the bumpstop or that the bumpstop and something else are coming in contact when they shouldn't.

There may be an issue with installing the lift but using the stock shocks. The stock shocks may not be long enough for the lift. I don't know what the term is but I guess it would be the opposite of bottoming out.

The sound you hear is the shocks being fully extended when the rear end goes up. Your rubicon shocks are probably better than what came with the kit, just not as long. Shock extenders will take care of it as long as your lift isn't over 2-3".
